What is The Gentry Björn?
The Gentry Björn is a theatrical experience starring you. You and the other guests play members of a prestigious secret society at its annual gathering. Each of you has a character, relationships, secrets, and things to do as the evening unfolds.
You’ll spend much of the experience moving around the room and talking to other guests in character. The professional actors take an unusual role: they become your mostly silent, masked audience, occasionally offering direction through written notes.
What will I actually be doing?
Your character’s instructions give you people to find, conversations to have, and tasks to carry out. Depending on your role, you might need to question someone’s story, conceal an embarrassing secret, make a persuasive case, or create a scene.
Other guests have their own instructions, so your plans will intersect with theirs, sometimes helpfully and sometimes very inconveniently.
How does the story move forward?
The story is divided into short chapters. Each chapter brings new information and tasks. When a new chapter begins, read your prompts and work toward completing its tasks before that chapter ends.
There are planned story developments and shared moments, alongside the smaller scenes you create with other guests. You won’t need to invent an entire plot or figure out how to keep the evening moving by yourself.
Is this a murder mystery? How do I win?
There is no winning, and this is not a murder mystery.
Your characters’ fates are already written. Your job is not to save them, but to make their stories worth watching.
What should I wear or bring?
Cocktail attire is recommended, but please wear what makes you comfortable.
Your role is assigned on arrival, so there’s no character research or script to prepare beforehand. We’ll provide your character information and prompts during the evening.
When and where is it? How long does it last?
Wednesday, December 9, from 7–9 PM at Kingston Hall. Please arrive promptly so you have time to receive your character and read your opening instructions. Late arrivals may not be admitted.
The two-hour event window includes getting oriented and taking part in the experience.
Are food and drinks included?
Food and drinks are not included in your ticket. Drinks will be available to purchase at the bar.
Is there an age requirement?
This event is for guests aged 18 and over.
How do I get a ticket?
Secure your invitation. Attendance is limited.
What is the difference between an Audience Member and a Gentry Björn Member?
Gentry Björn Members receive a character and prompts, take part in conversations and scenes, and help bring the story to life.
Audience Members do not receive a character or tasks. They watch silently as the members’ stories unfold, without taking part in the roleplaying.
